The Suusamyr valley is a high steppe plateau (7 218ft/2200m). The valley is about 100mi/160 km from Bishkek, and it is one of the remote and rarely visited regions of Kyrgyzstan. The road climbs through the spectacular Too-Ashu gorge. The old road climbed right to the top of the pass, but at present there is tunnel burrowed under it. The best season to visit the valley is early summer when the grasslands are still green and temperature is not too high.
